While in Abidjan recently, I met The Reverend Pastor Jean-Claude Maleka, who is back to Cote d’Ivoire from the USA where he was on itinerating. Sometime during his stay there, two missionaries were evacuated from Liberia where they got infected by the Ebola virus disease (EVD).
He joyfully told me:
I am proud with the fact that Emory University Hospital is a United Methodist institution, actively involved with eliminating the EVD. Emory University is a renowned center of knowledge and its hospital is doing very well in research.
Regarding the Gospel, the Reverend Maleka added:
… You know, the Gospel is a package which contains items such as education, health services and everything a person needs to live happily. Emory University Hospital is one those concrete aspects of the Gospel.
In August 2014, two American missionaries were evacuated from Liberia where they got infected with the Ebola virus. Two months after their admission to Emory Hospital, they were declared Ebola free. Is this not good news worth to praise God?
