Gorée Island is the most famous tourist attraction in Senegal. It is particularly attractive for people interested in the Atlantic slave trade.
According to estimates found in 2005, its population was of 1,056 inhabitants. Gorée is both the smallest and the least populated of the 19 districts (communes d’arrondissement) of Dakar, Senegal’s capital.
