Bahamian women are calling to pray in our places of worship. They invite you and I to join them in prayer on Friday 6 march 2015, to love in action, according to the words of Jesus addressed to his disciples: “Do you know what I have done to you?” (John 13.12).
This celebration is an annual event organized by the World Day of Prayer International Committee. Every year a different country designs and writes an ecumenical celebration for the world. It’s Bahamas’ turn in 2015, after. Prayer is organized by women, for the whole community: men and women. For a couple of years now, my local United Methodist Church takes part in the event. In 2014 we prayed for and with the women of Egypt.
Following Jesus’ example of washing his disciple’s feet, we are asked to continue the gesture of love in The Bahamas and in our own communities.

“Blessed” celebrates the Bahamas through our National Bird, the Flamingo. It also celebrates our blessings as we share with the world across the ocean. The flamingos bow at the feet of Christ for there is Forgiveness, Peace and Love in this act of Submission.
